Oktoberfest 2009. What a weekend!

Hey everyone!
Well this post is about one of the most famous celebrations here in Germany: Oktoberfest. Maybe some of you will know what this event is about. Yes. It's all about beer. and of course sausages! (Bratwurst, Weisswurst, etc etc etc)... Anyway...
I remember this week... we took very early in the morning a train from Wiesbaden to Munich.. around 6 am on saturday. It was supposed to be a 6 hours trip but.. some drunk ppl broke a window in the train and .. suddenly we saw ourselves stuck in the train for 2 more hours... But
anyway, we arrived to Munich and we had to walk to get into the festival...
After 15 minutes walking, we arrived and the first thing I saw was a Luna Park and I asked myself... Is this Oktoberfest? come on! I should stayed then in Mexico! but I was so naive...
We're about 15 people from Mexico, Chile, Spain, France and Rusia... (All Erasmus Students)... and sometimes handling a big group you can't give everyone what they want... so, some friends and I decided to get inside a "Tend".
Ok, so this is how Oktoberfest works... It is a huge Luna Park really crowded and you can see many games and food, but the real action is inside the Tends. I think there will be around 12 Tends, each Tend with a different brand of Beer. If you want to get inside quick you have
to arrive early in the morning (around 9 am) and wait in line. We arrived at 6 pm on Saturday, in the last weekend. How smart, ha? hahahah :P So we waited outside the door of the Lowenbrau Beer Tend around 1 hour and a half... and we were about to leave the tend... because we said "okay, are we going to stay here outside this tend, when maybe we can go buy some beers in a Kiosk and then drink at the park?"... but... we stayed there, like soldiers :P and... after begging the security guard for a lot of time... we got inside! ... and... the party inside is simply CRAZY.
Lots of ppl dancing, singing, having fun, drinking beer and eating german food. It is a really big tend well decorated and in the middle of the place, there's a live band playing different songs (from Robbie Williams, to the german singer Nena 99luftballons or maybe I'll survive...) but... we had another battle to win.... to get a beer! because if you don't have a seat you are not able to order a beer, so you have two options: Get a seat or ask someone who is sitting to get you a beer.... we did the second thing of course because it was really crowded! But.. after some time, one of the Spanish Girls, ( A ) was able to get a seat and suddenly the 7 of us were sitting at the table, dancing, singing, drinking beer and having major fun!!.. It was really cool.
We got inside the tend around 7.30 pm and we left around 11 pm.. and of course, it is not possible to take the jars (Mass) with you; otherwise you wud be a thief :P.. so.. I got my backpack and my sleeping bag... and I was able to get two 1 liter Masses.. hahahah!! so once outside the Tend, we got 7 jars for 7 people... :) I mean thats pretty cool if you know that one jar of beer inside the tend is 10 € !!!!
So, we're supposed to take the 11 pm train to Wiesbaden, but we took the 2 am one.. in the mean time, I ate a kebap with the french guy ( V ) and I met some guys wearing teletubbies costumes hahaha.. and I met a brasilian girl and a german guy really cool ppl. Then Mau joined us to have a light chat and.. thats practically everything.
The come back journey was... so TIRING. we were not able to get a seat in the train, we were standing up, kinda of drunk and tired, ... but after 3 connections, we got some seats... and we reached Wiesbaden around Sunday 11 am or something... It was really cold (this is when I missed México a lot .. ) and we were tired and with a hangover... but satisfied because we got 7 jars = ) ! hahaha
This is all for now!
Prost!!!

México, USA, Obama and Wiesbaden!

Well, after a long trip from Mérida, then Cancun, Philadelphia, Frankfurt and finally Wiesbaden, I was able to arrive to the Students Residence Camp Pieri. The truth is that this has been a really tiring trip, even more that the last year I traveled to Greece. I don't know why!
I was barely 2 hours at the Philadelphia airport, but before landing, we're flying around for about one hour because the president Obama (who has now the Nobel Peace Prize) was at the city and some military aircrafts were also in the sky. Anyway, the flight was really cool. I met this lady named Kathy from Virginia, who was going to Madrid for a "race" between the french border until Santiago de Compostela, in Spain; really brave, ha? We talked about our last trips and she told me about her trip to Guatemala. She actually speaks really good spanish.
I arrived to Wiesbaden and my first impression was: a beautiful city. The buildings are amazing and, like the most of Europe, the transportation and buses are really good. Joana, my buddy from the Erasmus Program, picked me up from the airport and kindly she gave me a cigarrette. She is really cool and I hope to see her often. She explained me, step by step, how to use the buses and trains between Frankfurt and Wiesbaden (by train only 45 minutes). Tomorrow I have to wake up at 8 am in order to pick Mauricio up. I have already set 3 alarm clocks. haha.

That's everything 4 now. and the next post: Oktoberfest 2009!
